Horses have been a part of Babette’s life since she was a young child. At the age of 8 she started eventing and has not looked back. Babette’s ability to teach riders how to successfully enjoy their horses evolved from her passion of riding and training. Combining her life-long love of horses with her natural ability to teach has allowed Babette to make her passion her profession.
She has 15+ years experience in the sport of eventing and 5 years at the upper levels. She has trained and competed two horses thru the two-star level – the international intermediate level. For the 2008 season her goals included a CCI** in the spring in preparation for moving up to the Advanced level in the fall with her current international-level horse, Tomcat. Babette has been privileged to learn from some of the best in the sport; working student for Phillip Dutton, head groom and barn manager for Kelli Temple, student of Sally Cousins and Eric Horgan, and full time student with Ashley MacVaugh for the past 3 years. Since 2007 Babette has successfully run her own training and competition barn in Massachusetts, B-Eventing. Her long-term goals are to maintain a successful eventing and competition business, while at the same time continuing to compete at the upper levels of the sport.
Babette’s teaching philosophy is to help all her students achieve their goals through a structure-based approach. When riders are clear on what needs to be accomplished from lesson to lesson and day to day, it makes goals and progression more tangible. It is important to Babette that all her students, green or experienced, feel successful in their riding, have clearly defined programs and have better communication with their horses so that both can excel.
